The protocol for access to secured web servers. Using in the URLs rather than HTTP sends the messages to a secured port number rather than to the default of 80. The session takes place when it is handled by a secure protocol. The most widely used Web browsers have integrated an encryption function making transmission more secure. HTTPS is commonly used for on-line shopping. |
