Put as generally as possible, a knowledgebase embodies knowledge about how to solve a problem in some problem domain. Several different approaches to knowledgebased representation have been developed over about the last 20 years. Many incorporate the NetWeaver KB engine for knowledgebased reasoning. This system implements a knowledge base as a dependency network. By itself, a knowledge base doesn't actually do anything. The knowledgebase that an assessment team constructs with the NetWeaver development system is best thought of as a meta database. It is used to interpret data processed by the inference engine. |
